Rock
The rock leg of 2009’s KFC Pretoria Sessions competition is set to culminate with a massive event at the Hatfield square on the 23rd of October.
To date, a whole host of up and coming bands have entered themselves into the competition by creating a profile on the KFC Sessions website (www.kfcsessions.co.za) and populating it with images, video and music. Each act will be scrutinised by a panel of industry judges and the winner will subsequently get a chance to play in front of thousands of adoring fans at the final show.
This year’s event sees the return of South African rock legends Fokofpolisiekar to the Hatfield stage with the addition of Potchefstroom-based Straatligkinders and locals Rorshach Blot and Cortina Whiplash. In amongst these amazing acts will be the final winner of KFC Sessions 2009 for the rock category, a feat which will find them onstage in front of some 6 000 people.
The event is open to the public and entrance will cost R50. KFC Pretoria is running a special promotion leading up to the rock concert event: every Boxmaster or Boxmaster meal that is sold at a Pretoria KFC outlet from the 11 August onwards will contain a ticket which will entitle the bearer to a 60% discount on the rock concert ticket, meaning that entrance will only cost R20. The ticket is valid for one person only but there is no limit to the number of tickets a group can hold.
Furthermore, the ticket is double-sided – one side offers 60% discount on the KFC Pretoria Sessions rock concert, while the other offers a 50% discount on the R60 tickets to the KFC Pretoria Sessions hip hop concert (meaning entrance will only cost R30) set to take place at the Pretoria Showground on 19 September. The bearer can choose which side of the ticket he or she wishes to redeem. Fans of both music genres can simply purchase another Boxmaster or Boxmaster meal if they wish to make use of both concert ticket discounts.
As the concert date draws nearer, KFC Pretoria encourages local rock fans to ‘save the date’ for what will undoubtedly be a night to remember.
